"Drive Failed After One Month!" 2009-12-18
By D. Archer (Los Angeles, CA USA)
I hope that my experience with this 2GB drive isn't reflective of the typical quality of this product; I recognize that this could be an aberration. This is my first hard-drive failure in my twelve years or so of home computing. It wasn't the interface or other problem; the hard drive failed, reverted to a RAW format, and only about one-half of the drive could be formatted as NTFS. Obviously, at least one of the platters failed catastrophically. I sent it in for replacement under warranty and am awaiting the replacement. I wonder if the push to 2GB is too much, too soon.

I will update this review only if I have further problems.

 "Massive storage, lightweight package" 2009-09-12
By J. Pittman
I have an older 750gb Seagate "Pro" hard drive. I like the enclosure better on the new Xtreme drive, because the base of the older one was fixed, and the base of the new one is set up to be removed so the hard drive can be mounted vertically OR horizontally. The finish on the new drive seems cheaper, however, though it makes for lighter weight.

As is always the case for Seagate drives, I have no issues with this one. I'm happy they finally have a 2tb drive available, and with E-sata and firewire options, you can use it in almost any application.

I'll continue to buy Seagate.
