I bought one of these enclosures and thought it was fantastic. So I ordered three more. The second group of three was apparently from a different "batch" because the power cords had a different transformer configuration; i.e. at the plug vs. in the middle of the cable. When I installed the first unit, I noticed that my network was informing me of ip address conflicts, but I assumed there was no logical connection because the disk drives are USB and how could that possibly cause a local network ip address conflict? When I hooked up to three new enclosures (with tested drives) to machines on my network, I noticed that all sorts of strange things were occuring on my network. Remote desktop would not work, there were ip conflicts, and I kept getting messages that the newly connected drives were not formatted, which I knew was not true. When I removed all of the drives and rebooted everything on my network, including the router (which I had done several times previously with the disks connected), all of these problems went away. I am returning all four enclosures. I don't know exactly what the problem is because in addition to all of the network problems I had, two of the enclosures when powered on showed proper lights, but it was obvious from feeling the enclosures that the drives were not even spinning up, which was probably the cause of the "disk not formatted" message. I am very suspicious of these enclosures! My advice is to beware of them.

This unit is very easy to use. Just slip in your drive, close the door and you're ready to use your drive. I bought one of these, liked it and decided to get another. The first one worked (works still) fine. But the second one I bought wouldn't latch properly. Basically, I would go to close and lock the drive in the unit and the door would pop back open. Had to return it. I kept the first one I bought but I'm almost waiting for it to fail as well. Not a bad unit for the price if they can fix that door problem
